We all know Sarah from his amazing memes on TWTMEGP, including his most recent one that nearly hit 9K reactions and growing. But he is also an accomplished musician. We’re happy to have him for a chat regarding his favorite production tools.
Hi Sarah, thanks for doing this Q&A. Please tell our readers a little bit about your background
I’m DJ since 1994 and I started music production in 2001… I released records mainly on Trapez Treibstoff Dumbunit…I also ran a label RomanPhoto Recordings in 2007 with artists such as Someone Else, Baby Ford, Jin Choi and Dandy Jack…I played a lot everywhere in the world from 2006 to 2010.
2 What is your favorite piece of hardware gear to work with and why?
My Machinedrum Elektron SPS-1 mkII. I love it because you can build your own percussions and even if it’s not the best workflow, you can have catchy drums and automatize them that give a unique sound to your rhythms.
3 Is there a specific VST plugin that radically changed your workflow?
Not really, my workflow is not very good. It took me time to make a track or I made new track with old ones to go faster…my favorite VST is Reaktor so it’s not the best one for the workflow
I also use the U-He Diva soft synth. just it sounds very good and very easy to program great basslines.

4 Do you have a specific workflow when it comes to creating tracks. For instance, do you start with a beat or with a melody?
Yes, I always start with beats but it could happen with just an idea of a specific sound design or a pad that inspires me.
5 Which aspect of music production do you feel you excel at?
As I not consider myself as a real musician and more as a DJ who try to make music I would say the arrangements and maybe also the mix.
6 Your best advice to get that kick drum pounding?
There is very cool special kick VST that create nice kicks, but I like also to sample my records and use kick sample… I love the 808 kick drum more sweet and deep than the 909 one.
7 Out of all the productions you have made, what would be your personal favorite?
Yes I have the EP Crashed by on Treibstoff the both tracks “crashed by myself” and “crashed by society” and also the track “never stop” from my first and only album “heartbeat city” on Treibstoff the only track I sing on.
8 What is the best advice you have for other producers in the game?
Don’t take it too seriously music is serious but “the game” is not.
9 Is there anything else you would like to share?
Unfortunately I have tinnitus since last august and I am still resting my ears so I don’t have new stuff to share but I hope I will be able to make new music as soon as possible.
